The Rams won their season opener 6-4 vs. the Daniel Lions. Connor McGill gets the win on the mound to improve to 1-0 on the season. Connor was also 1-2 at the plate with an RBI 2B.

The Rams started scoring in the 3rd after Nate Bailey’s RBI single turned into a defensive miscue that plated 2 additional runs. McGill’s 2B in the 4th added 2 more. Zade Miles went and got the 6th run on his own, via an infield single, 2 stolen bases, and a wild pitch to bring him home.

Defensively, Cade Langston made some Sportscenter-worthy plays to keep the Rams in control of the game. On the mound, McGill went 4 2/3 innings pitched, allowing only one run on 4 hits while tallying 5 strikeouts on the night. Tristan Elgin came in and got the save.

Westside improves to 1-0 and will play host to Easley High School in the 2nd Round of the Groucho’s Shock City Invitational Tournament tomorrow (2/29) at 5:00.
